Samuel Ojosnegros, PhD
CEO, co-founder

Samuel Ojosnegros is a renowned bioengineer and expert in reproductive medicine. With a background in theoretical biology from ETH Zurich and specialized training in microscopy at Caltech, Samuel combines his diverse knowledge to pioneer bioengineering solutions for embryo culture and imaging.

His groundbreaking work in the field has earned him recognition as a leading figure in IVF, contributing to advancements in assisted reproductive technologies and making a lasting impact in non-invasive imaging of cellular metabolism.

He is also the CEO and co-founder of SERABIOTICS, a biotech specialized in non-therapeutic applications derived from human plasma.

Anna Seriola, PhD, MBA
CSO, co-founder

With a background in embryology, stem cell biology, genetics, and an MBA in Pharmaceutical Marketing, Anna Seriola drives the development of cutting-edge solutions for in-vitro fertilization and cell therapy. Her multidisciplinary expertise, spanning academia and industry, has led to successful collaborations with private entities and the execution of sponsored research projects. Committed to advancing the development of non-invasive imaging in reproductive health, she is dedicated to positioning LUMIRIS as a leader in the field, ensuring sustained growth and impact. She is also the co-founder and CSO of SERABIOTICS.

Jorge Fuentes
Strategy Partner, Co-founder

Jorge Fuentes graduated as a Master’s in Telecom Engineering at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). He undertook Postgraduate Studies in Management and Business Administration at the University of Barcelona.

He became the Aerospace Technology Advisor for the Innovation and Business Development Agency of the Government of Catalonia. He was key in setting up the Aerospace Technology Centre (CTAE) in Barcelona and held the position of Deputy Director there.

Later on, he set up and managed the European Space Agency Business Incubation Centre in Barcelona. Today he works as a Chief Strategy Officer in 3 hi-tech companies and is specialized in Entrepreneurship and Business growth.

Robert Forster
Senior Industry Advisor

Robert Forster brings over 35 years’ experience across the scientific instruments industry, with Merck, Thermo Fisher, Nikon Corporation and M Squared, where he led its Biophotonics business unit.   Robert’s extensive experience in the delivery of commercial operations, strategic planning, M&A, technology transfer, IP exploitation, and international research collaborations with academia and industrial partners, will be invaluable to Lumiris.

Montse Boada, PhD
Clinical Advisor

Monste Boada is the Lab Director at Dexeus Fertility since 2004 and senior clinical embryologist with more than 25 years experience. She has been an executive member of different fertility scientific societies (SEF, ASEBIR,ESHRE). She is also a bioethics expert and acts as a master’s degree academic coordinator (UPF, UAB) to train the new generations of clinical embryologists.

Nikita Zaninovic, PhD
Senior Advisor

Nikita Zaninovic is an associate Professor and Lab Director at Weill Cornell Medicine, Cornell University. He is president and founder of the AI Fertility Society, an expert in non-invasive selection of human embryos and advisor for several companies in the fertility field.

Abdolvahab Amirsalari
Optical Engineer

Abdolvahab is a physicist with a PhD in chemistry from the Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences, specializing in spectroscopy and microscopy techniques. His research has focused on the development and optimization of advanced optical systems, including surface enhanced Raman scattering, confocal dark-field microscopy, and various imaging methods. Abdolvahab has extensive experience in designing and building custom optical setups and has worked with complementary techniques. His main goal at Lumiris is to develop advanced microscopic systems, leveraging his expertise in optics, spectroscopy, and theoretical modeling to drive innovation in imaging technology.

Anna Ferrer, PhD
Project Manager

Anna Ferrer holds a PhD in Developmental Biology by the University of Freiburg and a MSc in Human Assisted Reproduction by the Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona. Her research career revolved around her interest in early mammalian development and spanned over two decades both in academia (University of Konstanz, Sloan Kettering Institute) and private IVF clinics (Eugin) where she also worked as a clinical embryologist.

Her role in bridging the gap between basic research and clinical application sparked her interest in innovation. At Lumiris, she ensures that everything gets efficiently and effectively executed.

Albert Parra
Optical physicist and data specialist

Albert Parra is an experimental physicist oriented to photonics. He has both academic (UAB, University of Granada) and industrial (Leukos, Leitat) experience in the development, design, construction and implementation of different systems in the field of photonics and metamaterials.

Specifically, his expertise focuses on magneto-optical traps, the manipulation of magnetic fields, the manufacture and assembly of lasers and their components, and improvements in 3D printing for metals. At Lumiris he runs the development and implementation of the hyperspectral imaging pipeline.

Ot Massafret, PhD
Embryologist

Ot Massafret holds a MSC in Human Assisted Reproduction and a PhD in Cell Biology from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona where he studied the pluripotency potential of human embryonic stem cells derived from single blastomeres.

His research career has been focused on understanding the developmental potential of embryonic stem cells and, recently, the early mammalian embryo. Now at Lumiris he leads the embryology team.

Irene Oliver, PhD
Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance

Irene Oliver graduated in Human Biology at Pompeu Fabra University (specialty in Clinical Analysis Laboratory) and holds a PhD in Cellular Biology from the University of Barcelona. Almost 20 years of dedication to scientific research, in the field of cell therapy, regenerative medicine and immunotherapy.

With a strong background in basic and applied research, she has extensive experience in the development of advanced therapy drugs, conducting preclinical studies under Good Laboratory Practices. Committed with high quality in science and regulatory affairs, she holds an MSc in Industrial Pharmaceutics and Drug Registration from CESIF (Centro de Estudios Superiores de la Industria Farmacéutica).

Xavier Burgos, PhD
AI Specialist

Xavier is a computer scientist (B. Eng. and Ph.D.) expert in Artificial Intelligence techniques applied to different areas such as medicine, biology, agriculture or cinematography. He has worked both in academia and industry in several countries, co-authoring 60 scientific publications, more than 10 industrial patents and participating in the development of several biomedical commercial products.

Xavier has moreover experience navigating the startup world, being also the co-founder of a startup created to research and apply innovative Artificial Intelligence-based solutions to Dentistry. In Lumiris, he oversees data processing and AI solutions.
